Since beginning my work as a doula, every time I meet with a new client, witness another labor, and move deeper into the world of birth work, I am astounded at the profound meaning contained within each family’s experience.

I get a lot of questions like, “What do you typically see with…” or “What’s the best way to…”
And the truth is, I do have answers for you.

I have evidence-based information and resources to guide you, as well as experiential wisdom. I have specialized training in maternal movement for optimal fetal positioning, and I know how to coach you through the intensity of contractions. I can tell you all about what to expect at the hospital, how to avoid unnecessary medical interventions, and support your partner as they stay by your side in every moment.

A major part of my role on your birth team is to equip you with the tools, knowledge, preparation, and confidence to enter your birthing experience. Through our prenatal meetings and prep work together, we will do just that.

From that very first contraction, my desire is for you to feel confident, steady, and relaxed.
And on the other side, I want you to be able to look at yourself in the mirror as you hold your baby and think, “I did that. I am so proud of myself.”

But the thing about birth is that I can only guarantee you one thing: unpredictability.

I see it happen all the time. Maybe you weren’t expecting contractions to feel the way they do for you. Or your doctor urges a medically necessary induction. Or maybe some feelings come up for you that you weren’t expecting.

Birth is one of life’s greatest initiations. Birth is humbling. Birth is a challenging and generous teacher. It is wild, as it belongs to our natural bodies. Even through all of our learning, preparation, and mastery of birth knowledge, it is a process that requires trust and surrender. It works best in an atmosphere of trust and surrender.

That’s why you need a steady team. A prepared partner. A doctor or midwife you trust. And a doula who will be by your side as you journey into the unknown.
